At TransitionZero, Market Development connects the real decisions facing governments, utilities and other energy system stakeholders with the modelling, software and analysis needed to answer them. It then builds the pathway from the first conversation through solution definition, implementation, adoption and evidence of value. We are looking for an Head of Engagement, ASEAN, to help build this capability across Southeast Asia, combining market creation, institutional relationship development, solution discovery, implementation leadership and external positioning.

The role will identify the most valuable decision problems in priority markets, translate them into credible Scenario Builder use cases and progress qualified opportunities into funded pilots, strategic partnerships and future commercial adoption. Early wins will include a clear evidence-based regional market strategy, trusted coverage of priority institutions, a pipeline of well-qualified opportunities, and repeatable market narratives and implementation pathways grounded in real user needs.

Reporting to and working in close partnership with the Head of Market Development, this is a senior regional leadership role that aligns regional priorities, major opportunities, external positioning and implementation with the Head, while providing matrix leadership across cross-functional teams.

The role operates across the full adoption pathway and will draw on product, modelling, engineering and communications expertise where specialist input is required. The role is accountable for external evidence, solution narrative, stakeholder orchestration, opportunity progression and market follow-through.

  • Design and lead roundtables, roadshows, conferences, stakeholder workshops and senior meetings with defined audiences, intended decisions, disciplined follow-through and evidence capture.

  • Build and enable an ecosystem of local partners, advisors and institutions that can extend TransitionZero's reach and support credible implementation, referral or co-delivery pathways.

About You

You are a structured market builder with enough technical fluency to discuss modelling and software credibly, enough analytical judgement to choose where to invest, and sufficient communication skills to turn complex evidence into a compelling external narrative. You are equally comfortable with senior institutional stakeholders and technical specialists, and you combine relationship building with rigorous implementation follow-through and organisational knowledge capture.

  • A track record of building new markets, segments or strategic accounts and progressing complex opportunities with multiple stakeholders and long decision cycles.

  • Experience helping to implement complex software, data, analytics, modelling or advisory solutions, from discovery and scope definition through delivery, user enablement and adoption.

  • A working understanding of how power system, electricity market or infrastructure modelling informs planning, investment, policy or operational decisions, with confidence discussing inputs, assumptions, scenarios, outputs, validation and limitations.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities and analytical outputs into decision-oriented use cases, implementation pathways and value narratives for senior and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical judgement, with the ability to synthesise market, policy, institutional, customer and competitor evidence into clear choices and recommendations.

  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce compelling concept notes, proposals, presentations, executive briefs, case studies and meeting outputs.

  • Strong opportunity, account and project planning discipline, including effective use of CRM and shared documentation to manage pipeline and preserve institutional intelligence.

  • Willingness to travel regularly across Southeast Asia and to work with reasonable flexibility around customer and partner time zones.

Desirable:

  • Direct exposure to power system planning, electricity market simulation or energy analytics software such as PLEXOS, PyPSA, OSeMOSYS or comparable tools.

  • Experience working with governments, utilities, system operators, development finance institutions, grant funders, public procurement or multi-organisation programmes.

  • Academic or professional grounding in power systems, energy economics, energy policy, engineering, data analytics or a related field.

  • Experience developing value propositions, market-facing content, case studies, executive events or thought leadership for a complex technical proposition.

  • Experience in a startup, scale-up or mission-driven organisation where market, product and delivery functions work closely together.

  • Professional proficiency in one or more Southeast Asian languages.
